Iowa AHEC Program Offices

In 2007, Des Moines University (DMU) and the University of Iowa College of Nursing received federal funding to develop five regional AHECs with a goal of improving availability and quality of healthcare in Iowa’s rural and underserved areas.

Iowa AHEC:

Des Moines University and University of Iowa created a network of five regional AHECs in the state, coordinated through a central program office located at University of Iowa. Each regional AHEC is established locally and designed to meet the needs of the underserved populations in that region:

Northeast Iowa AHEC is located at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, IA.
Central Iowa AHEC is located at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines, IA.
Northwest Iowa AHEC is located at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, IA.
